Don’t miss out as she shares some of her amazing wisdom and inspirational quotes with us all too!

In this episode, you will learn:

  • How she got started as a life coach after a traumatic injury.
  • Why she feels that life coaching works very well as a side gig for women physicians.
  • What is life coaching and how it can help physicians in particular.
  • How life coaching can help with physician burnout.
  • What it’s really like to work with a life coach.
  • How effective is life coaching in solving issues in your life.
  • Why working with a life coach is favorable over talking to a family member or friend.
  • Why men need to step out of their comfort zone and enter the life coaching world.

Dr. Sunny Smith is a clinical professor of family medicine and public health at the University of California, San Diego. She focuses her academic career on medical student education and underserved medicine. After a bike accident in Moorea left her broken arms and facial bones, and in full arm casts, she wasn’t able to work, care for herself or even hold a book for a few months. During this time, she discovered podcasts and listened to every single episode of the podcasts of Brooke Castillo and Dr. Katrina Ubell, who also happens to be the very first guest on this podcast! She found these coaching concepts really transformed the way she looked at her life. She then found coaching so influential that she became a certified coach through, “The Life Coach School”. She combines coaching, along with her experience as a medical educator, with the goal of improving the lives of other physicians through podcasts, coaching and retreats. She focuses her coaching exclusively on women physicians and helps them stop sacrificing themselves for others so they can finally start to enjoy this life that they worked so hard to create.

Quotes from Dr. Sunny Smith:

  • “When you argue with reality, you lose 100 percent of the time.”
  • “There is no failure. You either get the outcome you wanted or the lesson you needed.”
  • “Your thoughts create your reality.”
