This week’s episode is all about F.I.R.E. If you don’t know what F.I.R.E. is yet you can check out Episode 39 with the Physician on FIRE himself for a much deeper explanation. Miss Bonnie MD and I chat about all things F.I. (Financial Independence) and R.E. (Retire Early) and what it means to us and our personal lives. I do apologize in advance this show was recorded a couple months back, and never released until now, but I felt it was still valuable information for all of you to hear.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • Carrie will be starting a new series called, “Hippocratic Hustle- Back to Basics,” in the near future. This series will feature your favorite people, male and female, from the personal finance world and give great tips and insight for all things financial.
  • I.R.E. stands for Financial Independence Retire Early and was started by Physician on FIRE to help other physicians plan for their financial future.
  • All about Scribes and how they can make your life so much easier in clinic. They pay for themselves in the long run too. Bonnie has one and Carrie unfortunately doesn’t at the moment.
  • Carrie is focusing on paying off student loans and then will focus on F.I.R.E. goals next.
  • Sometimes it’s easier to make goals in 5 year increments rather than think about so many years into the future.
  • No matter what you decide to do, have a plan! Don’t just wait and hope that it will work itself out because it won’t.
  • Once F.I. is achieved, Carrie would like to see less patients per day so she can really spend time with them and Bonnie would like to work less days per week and maybe explore locums too.

Thank you to this week’s show sponsor: PearsonRavitz for all of your physician disability and life insurance needs.
